The NWC Music Department maintains a very active performance/contest schedule during the school year and is continuously participating in community outreach events. The Northwest Classen High School Bands and Taft Middle School Bands enjoyed a very successful 2009 - 2010 school year.
 
 
 
 
 
Northwest Classen Band & Choir News
 
The NWC Marching Band kicked off the year with their first superior rating at marching in contest in over a decade. The band rehearsed tirelessly for almost an entire football season, memorizing the music and drill arranged for them by their directors. The band performed the music of Jekyll & Hyde in November, to a packed Cameron Stadium in Lawton, Oklahoma, wearing their newly purchased band uniforms they had received a week prior to the competition. The spring semester presented the music department with an exciting and successful contest season. The Taft 6th Grade Band competed for the first time and earned a Superior Rating as a band without the aide of the 7th & 8th graders. The 7th & 8th grade band competed and earned their 2nd consecutive Superior Rating as a concert band this year as well. The NWC Jazz Band competed for the first time and earned their first Superior Rating at contest this year. Also, the high school band successfully completed their end-of-the-year band trip to Texas where the concert band and drumline competed and earned Superior Ratings as well. Late fall brought with it cooler weather and various accolades for members of the NWC Band. During football homecoming, it was announced that Edmond Rester, Senior Tubist for the band, was voted Homecoming King for Northwest Classen High School. Also, band members from NWC and Taft MS auditioned for various honor groups this winter including the newly re-instated All-City Honor Band. The band was successful in sending a record number of students to both All-City Honor Band and Northern Oklahoma College Honor Band. Below are photographs from these events.
